Happy Halloween: Exclusive Free Liz Revision Mix, Party in Chicago with Bitshifter

Friend of the Site Liz McLean Knight aka Liz Revision aka Quantazelle of subVariant has put together a special, exclusive mix for CDM of 117-119 bpm musical goodness, excavated from the “_blippy” folder of sketches on her USB drive. Matt Moldover, who has been working on his CD-as-electronic-instrument album, lent his laptop. (Watch him assembling CDs in the video after the break.)

It’s all in celebration of a Halloweeen party Saturday night in Chicago, headlined by Josh Davis (BitShifter). Party ringleader Liz joins Josh on behalf of subVariant to represent the IDM-glitch-minimal-tech-house side of things, and Mr. Automatic (Front 312) and Onefiftyone (Chicago Workshop) will be joining in. If you’re in Chicago, this looks like the place to spend your Saturday. If, like me, you’re not, well, we have some music and videos for you to bring the party home.

girls in electronic music | women producers | girl DJs | imogen heap v. ellen allien v. liz revision

Just curious on on other girl electronic music producers so I did a compete graph. Not too bad I guess…although when Immy dropped her album she blew away the crowd. Go girl! Drop more nerdy /teched-out EM production on us, too, I sure won’t mind!

Green == Imogen Heap; Blue == Liz Revision (me); Orange == Ellen Allien.

I left out quantazelle.com cause it’s been down while I regroup…and, trust me, you should see my daily schedule with all the junk I work on. Yeah, will get back on the assistant route cause that was awesome. Getting back to that level slowly but surely!

Anyway, it appears that Ms. Heap blew up with her latest, and this makes me happy. She is a great artist who also produces (with Ableton Live!), so she’s got the vox and tech talent. Work it girly!

Oh yeah, have you heard her “Last Train Home” track? GO! Gorgeous vox+production.

Alright, Mr. Henry Rollins…imma say you are generalizing here in regards to calling rave culture as all about drug culture and “ketamine & ecstasy.” Sure, it’s around in the scene and there are peeps that dig it but that’s not THE reason why everyone congregates on a space and blisses out to techno, house, drum-n-bass, and all the sub-branches and in between genres. Wake up. I will show you.

Frankly, I don’t get your motivation, sweetie. You used to be an advocate for a subculture that was all about the anti-establishment cultural movement, self-expression, and DIY culture right? Um….that’s what rave culture was and still is (on the DL here in Chi but everywhere on the ‘tronz). Not sure why you’re hating, but feel free to call me personally and I will set you straight.

So, Mr. R, when’s the last time you’ve been to a real rave? If you haven’t been to a real one in a minute, Mr. Rollins, accept my personal invitation and we will have a blast. All above board and totally legal. No need to worry bought nothin’. Let me show you what it’s about.

Also, keep in mind, if Techno Viking finds out you are dissing him YOU BETTER RUN. Just sayin’ :-D LOL Look at the pecs on dude! har.

C’mon, Henz, don’t diss the scene you don’t know. For sho. Call me up dawg, let me school you…no need for hatin’.
